When a cause needs a lot of attention, it usually goes out and lays claim to a color. Breast cancer has pink. AIDS has red. Anything eco-friendly has green.
And though not everyone knows it, hunger awareness has orange.
There’s a reason the Food Bank picked such a vibrant color. 1.3 million people in the five boroughs (mostly women, children, seniors and people with disabilities) rely on soup kitchens and food pantries.
That’s about 10% of all New Yorkers. That's a Very… Big… Problem.
The Food Bank has its work cut out for it. So when they hold their biggest Food Drive of the year, it’s important to spread the word and get people on board. Enter Agent Orange.
They got the Empire State Building, the Woolworth Building and Lincoln Center to turn their lights orange. They even got to ring the opening bell for the Nasdaq.
As part of the campaign to get more New Yorkers to “Go Orange” and help raise awareness, they also plastered the city with posters, bus sides and taxi tops.
