This spot from Canal+ (France's HBO) is just great. I like it so much because, while it's referring to the writers at a premium cable channel, it really sums up what people in advertising do best:
Weave amazing tales out of thin air.
It doesn't matter what materials we're given to start with or the constraints of reality, budget or clients. Given the opportunity, we create amazing, entertaining stories. Sometimes it's linear, like this one. But in today's ever-evolving media landscape, it's most often not. Either way, the work is still best when it lures people in with a great story. And when wild postings support a Facebook page, which supports a microsite, which supports Twitter which supports some viral videos which support some secret event for only the most loyal fans, that's still a great story.
Enjoy this one.
